FINN JUHL THREE SEATER JAPAN SOFA
A very rare and exeptionaly beautiful three seater sofa designed by Finn Juhl in 1953 for France & Son, Denmark.
Officially known as the model F/D 137 Japan sofa, Juhl famously took his inspiration from the water gate located off the coast of Hiroshima.
This example is an early France & Son production most likely made in the late 50’s. The form and structure of this design is sublime, from the softly scalloped backrests to the solid teak pole that runs the length of the backrest with intermittent brass struts. It is a stunning piece of work.
The sofa has been reupholstered in an electric teal colour which is very sympathetic to the original colours chosen by France & Son. We have sourced this fabric from a small artisan weavers from Denmark and it is of the very highest quality.
We have to doff our cap to our upholsterer who has done an incredible job of hand stitching the fabric, he is a true craftsman.
The true colour of the fabric has a bit more of a green hue to it which cameras have great difficulty reproducing. We are happy to supply fabric samples upon request.
CONDITION: Offered in excellent condition with only mild age related wear.
