MODEL 168 TEAK LOUNGE CHAIR BY CHARLES FRANCE
Designed by factory boss Charles ‘Fearnley France in 1962 for which it won a good design award. The design appears to be based almost entirely on a previous Grete Jalk design but with the addition of upholstered armrest, it is easy to see where the confusion arises as this design is always described as Jalk but France has the design credit.
This chair is upholstered in a lovely dark teal wool from Bute fabrics. This fabric looks stunning on teak framed furniture and is very very close to an original colour offered by France & Son at the time. Unfortunately our camera does not reproduce this colour but fabric samples are gladly offered upon request.
This is a hard to find design and one of our favourite France & Son chairs, it has a very elegant and pleasing profile.
A three seater sofa is also available.
