Original Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman finished in Brazilian rosewood and black leather for Herman Miller.
A particularly nice example exhibiting very dramatic and attractive figuring to the rosewood veneers and gorgeous patina to the cushions. The original owner purchased this chair in the late 60’s.
The Eagle eyed or the particularly geeky among you (I’m including myself in that statement) may notice the inside of the chair features earlier round 1960’s cushion clips as well as the later version of clips introduced in the 70’s. The original owner took the chair back to Herman Miller in the 70’s to have the later clips retrofitted as he was unhappy with the seat cushion slipping on the earlier cushion clip design.
When we dismantled the chair to clean and inspect it we found that the Herman Miller employee who carried out the work had etched the date of October 1974 onto the inside armrest plate.
Offered in beautiful condition. The chair is completely original with no replacement parts, or problems. There are two small leather repairs to the ottoman cushion, these are excellent professional repairs that are barely noticeable and do not detract in any way.
Herman Miller label to the underside.
