One for the collectors. A very rarely seen Eames Lounge chair produced by Hille, London. Hille was the first manufacturer outside the USA granted a license to produce this design shortly after it was released in 1957. Hille produced the design for around 10 years.
Bombay rosewood veneers with outstanding inky black leather with the most gorgeous silky smooth patina. The cushions are filled with a feather down and latex mix, they are incredibly comfortable and give the cushions a beautiful wrinkled appearance which was the aesthetic Charles & Ray Eames intended when they first designed this chair.
This example was purchased from the original owner who paired the chair with a 1960’s Vitra production Ottoman that matches beautifully, they have been together for over 50 years.
Both chair and Ottoman are offered in excellent condition with no replacement parts.
A very beautiful example of a rarely seen connotation of this iconic design.
